New Gitzo Systematic Series 4 with the Wimberly Head (Ver.II)
- I’ve been shooting with the 400mm 2.8 hand-held, but even with a really high quality vibration reduction system, the stability a tripod setup like this offers really maximizes the image quality/clarity. It seriously feels like I’m the gunner of a turret when I’m out taking shots. The Wimberly head offers drag-free resistance and great ergonomic locking knobs.
I replaced the standard Nikon foot off the lens collar for the Wimberly made arca-Swiss type foot that lowers the lenses center of gravity on the head and creates a more balanced pivot point.
Having a high quality & lightweight set of sticks like the carbon Gitzo Systematic Series 4 tripod has been a real luxury. Reduced weight and a rated load capacity of 55lbs offers maximum stability and rigidity for the big 10lb+ 400mm/D4 combo.
